Fun Technology --The Animated Cursor
The best thing about animated cursors is that you can get them for free. There are animated mouse cursors on almost any conceivable topic, and even tools out there to help you to make your own. For example, I used to be a great big fan of the cartoon Danger Mouse. I would always spend all day watching it as a child, and so when I grew up and moved away, I figured that I wanted to do something to remember this special part of my childhood. I found desktop Danger Mouse themes on the Internet, and installed them to make my system look spiffy. Now, every single time that it is loading, there is an animated mouse cursor showing the flying Danger Mouse car just cruising along with the famous mouse and his loyal assistant, Penfold, driving side by side. The mouse pointer itself is one of the animated mouse cursors. It shows Danger Mouse running along, probably pursuing some top secret mission from which he may never return. Of course, there are animated cursors on many other topics as well. Some of the most popular, however, are other cartoons, movies, and tv shows. There are animated mouse cursors on both classics, and the modern hits. The most popular are science fiction programs, because they are just so popular with geeks. You can get animated mouse cursors depicting Doctor Who, Star Wars, any Star Trek you lie, Babylon 5, and any other famous science fiction show or movie by the thousands. It is like almost every fan that there is out there has to make his own animated mouse cursor to show his loyalty and dedication to whatever tv show that it is. Some of the current favorites show things like faces with different expressions. When it is loading, the face will make a concerned or bored expression, or maybe start to roll its eyes, until it is finished. Then the face will go back to its usual smile, or whatever animated cursor that you chose to be the default. There are endless hours of entertainment to be had from decorating and perfecting your computer desktop. Having animated mouse cursors can really do a huge amount to help you in spicing up your computer desktop.
Reviewing an Acer Laptop Computer
An Acer laptop computer can revolutionize your business or professional life. I am a writer, and largely self employed, so I know. For me, I hate staying at home to work amid all of the distractions of my house – there are just too many temptations to fall victim to in the home. But if I'd go out to work at a coffee shop, my productivity would in many ways be better, but at the expense of having to do everything in pen. This means that after I'd go to the coffee shop, I'd have to go back home again and rewrite everything typed up on my computer. When I bought my acer laptop computer, It changed everything and made things better. It meant that I could do my work out on the town, and then come home and upload it to my clients without any bother about rewriting. This has made life a joy, and made my personal life so much better, because I can write up my work on my acer laptop computers and then meet up with a friend for a drink, or go dancing, without having to stop at home again before going. There is no difference between work and play any more, I go around town, get business taken care of, and then dance all night. My acer laptop computer work pretty well, but to make it really cooked, I had to change the operating system to red hat linux. The windows included slowed down my high performance computer drastically, and made it unstable. Besides that, Windows made me vulnerable to viruses which other operating systems get rarely or never. Basically, having Microsoft windows on your acer laptop computers will cripple your productivity, like it does on any system. It is important to take good care of your laptop. They are more fragile and more difficult to maintain then desktop computers and, because you carry them around, are more liable to be damaged. Soft computer bags are not enough, no matter how well padded they are. Get a hard case. It is bulkier, harder to carry, and more expensive, but still, in the end, you will thank me for suggesting it. It will protect your computer as an investment, as well as all of the valuable information on it. Besides that, you must back up frequently on your computer, daily if possible to make sure you lose no information. Perhaps you can have a home computer which you use to store backups of your data.
The Magic of 3M Electrical Tape
Electrical tape is a versatile adhesive tape used to insulate wires or anything that conducts electricity. Because of their ability to resist elements, heat, and UV, they are also often used in many different alternative applications, such as securing lighting cables or piping, and are found on work benches and in tool boxes everywhere. Most electrical tapes are made out of various plastics, vinyl being the most commonly used kind. It was the company 3M that first invented the vinyl electrical tape, and they remain the leaders of the market. 3M electrical tapes are the standard in the industry, and they come in a variety of types. Their most popular version is the 3M 1710 Tartan electrical tape. It is the variety of tape most people immediately think of upon the mentioning of electrical tape. It is cheap, durable, flame retardant, resists UV damage, acids, alkalis, and moisture, and is easily the most commonly used electrical tape by electricians around the world. Another popular 3M electrical tape is their Scotch Vinyl 35 electrical color coding tape. It has the same qualities of the 1710 Tartan, yet comes in 9 different color variations. The color coding is often used by electricians to code for the different functions of the wires they are taping. The Scotch Super 33 Plus is a 3M electrical tape known for its extremely elastic nature and its ability to conform to any surface. It is used with PVC, and can insulate wires that conduct up to 600 volts. Like other 3M tapes, it is also very durable and damage resistant. Finally, 3M also makes an electrical tape designed for sealing moisture away from electrical connections. The 3M Electrical Moisture sealant is a heavy duty 3M electrical tape, 45 millimeters thick, and is also made with a PVC backing to help it resist higher voltages (up to 600) and heat. Since there is wiring involved in so many of our tools and appliances today, electrical tapes are widely used and essential commodities for anyone doing any kind of electrical work.Electrical tapes are available in most hardware stores, and whether you are a professional electrician or not, it is a good idea to have some around in your home. As the inventors of the vinyl electrical tape, the 3M electrical tapes are definitely considered to be amongst the finest to have.
Is This 17" Monitor Enough for My Needs?
My computer only had a 17" monitor, but it was fine for my needs. It displayed text and simple graphics well, and let me surf the internet just fine. It also fit well on my desk, and didn't take up too much room. I remember the days when computer monitors were twelve inches and resolution was only 400 by 600 lines. Forgive me for sounding like an old timer, but sometimes just enough is plenty. At least that is what i thought until I saw the new computer monitor models. The 19" monitor may only be 2 inches bigger than the 17" monitor, but boy those two inches make a difference. If I have friends over to watch a movie or something like that, its so much nicer. I've been comparison shopping and looking for a while, but I'm not sure. I think the flat screen models are the best. They don't have the glare of the others, and they look good. Besides that, they have a low profile and fit slimly on the desk. The downside is that they are more expensive. And anyway, I'm sort of used to what I have. My computer itself is pretty old, and I've been thinking of getting an upgrade. Beside the 17" monitor, I don't have a graphics accelerator or a good sound card. The graphics card is so important for gaming. I know that games are a big time suck, but well, I can't resits. But I haven't been able to play doom 3 because my computer won't support it. As for Warcraft 3 or diablo – forget it. Just not going to happen. The sound card I need for music. Not to listen to it – any sound card will play music. But to record music its good to have an expensive external sound card. You can do multiple track recording straight into the card, balance tracks, apply a lot of nifty affects, and do it all much cleaner. Its just all around more convenient for sure. But its not just a sound card I need. If I'm going to be making music on my computer, I'd like to be able to at least listen to it cleanly, but my little included dell computer speakers, while making clean sound, they've got no body. Completely flat. So, I guess you need everything you'd need for any home stereo. A reciever, a pre-amp, a tuner, and of course, great speakers. But one at a time. For now, I'm going to focus on upgrading my 17" monitor.
Cold Fusion -One
When the idea of cold fusion was first kicked around scientific think-tanks, it was seen as an excellent end to the energy crisis. Unlike nuclear fission, which breaks apart big atoms like uranium to produce power, nuclear fusion combines small molecules like hydrogen and helium to produce power. Nuclear fission, though relatively safe and efficient, produces large amounts of dangerous radioactive waste which don't decay for hundreds of years and give off dangerous radiation. Fusion, in comparison, produces hardly any radioactive waste. Unfortunately, the only fusion experiments that have been successful have been thermonuclear and occur at millions of degrees Celsius, usually exploding and melting things and generally making a mess of everything. So scientists postulated that they could create fission reactions (relatively) near room temperature and in (relatively) unpressurized environments, creating a great deal of power out of easily accessible materials while producing a very small amount of waste. This procedure was called "cold fusion." The main problem with cold fusion is that it doesn't work, or at least it hasn't worked yet. Hot fusion has worked, but so far it's been nearly impossible to control or maintain. When reactions occurring at millions of degrees Celsius are difficult to control it generally makes scientists and laymen alike a bit nervous, so most experts are hoping that cold fusion will be the answer to our problems. In 1987 two separate teams worked on cold fusion in Utah, Fleischmann and Pons and Stephen Jones. Neither team knew of the others' work until they submitted their papers for peer review. They had planned to release their papers simultaneously, but Pons and Fleischmann acted a day sooner than Jones and held their press release early. Jones then fired his article off to Nature, the rush to publish the findings caused quite a stir in national media. Much of the media buzz subsided quickly though, since the experiments weren't matching up to the proposed results. Peer review produced a string of failed experiments, and after the government investigated they found no evidence that cold fusion had been achieved. Though some cold fusion research is still being carried out and advances are still being made, most experiments are done by professors or retired professors working on shoestring budgets. In general, though we may still see reliable cold fusion reactors in our lifetime, combining hydrogen and helium to produce clean, plentiful energy, for the time being it's best not to hold your breath.
Boot Sector Virus Removal for a Healthy Computer
Boot sector virus removal can be a tricky business as these are some of the most evil and difficult kinds of viruses. They lidge in your boot sector, the part of your computer that is responsible for loading or “booting” the rest of it, so that as soon as your computer is turned on, the virus is already loaded into memory. This can be a big problem, because a cleverly designed boot sector virus removal can convince your computer that there is no virus at all when it loads. The best way for boot sector virus removal is to make a backup “clean” disk. This disk loads your computer when you stick it in the drive, so it is not loading from the boot sector, which has been contaminated by a virus. This way, you can load your computer virus free, and then clean the virus off of it. The best way to prevent boot sector virus removal is to switch operating systems away from Microsoft Windows. Windows is the only system which is commonly infected by viruses. They strike macs and linux machines, almost never at all. This is because windows is badly programmed. If, for example, you get an email with an attachment, it is designed to automatically open the attachment and to follow its instructions even if they put your computer in danger! Mac OS and Linux both have safeguard built in to protect you from these problems, but Microsoft doesn't care about anything except about whether or not their system looks pretty and they are making money. Boot sector virus removal isn't the only protection you might need on your computer. You need spyware removal as well. Spyware is a little like viruses, but much less harmful. When you visit certain websites with spam, they will put a program in your web browser which keeps track of your information and sends it back to them. It follows what websites you go to, what you buy, etc., and uses it to market things to you. It also slows down your computer and opens pop-up windows which you don't want to see repeatedly, which is very distracting and annoying. Some adware can even devert your web browser, sending you to websites you don't want to see, and stopping you from getting to the ones which you are trying to get to. Fortunately, these harmful nuisances are easily removed using one of any number of commonly avalable adware removal programs
